Canton, Ohio is a city found in Stark County, and it also serves as the county seat. This city is located about 24 miles south of Akron and about 60 miles south of Cleveland. As of 2010, the population of Canton was just over 73,000 residents, and although this indicated a nearly 10% decline in the previous 10 years, it is still the 8th largest city in the state by population. Canton was founded in 1805, and although it was initially incorporated as a village, in 1838 it was incorporated as a city. Canton is home to a variety of job opportunities for area residents, and the largest employers include Aultman Hospital, Mercy Medical Center, and Timken.

As a major city in the region, there are several notable attractions located in the City of Canton. Canton is well known for being home to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and it is also the birthplace of what would later become the National Football League (NFL). Auto enthusiasts may enjoy a trip to the Canton Classic Car Museum. Art of different forms are also available in this community, with attractions including the Canton Palace Theatre, the Downtown Canton Arts District, and Lynda Tuttle’s Art Center.

Residents of Canton will enjoy four distinct seasons throughout the year, and while this makes it a great place to enjoy a variety of recreational opportunities, it is important that they plan ahead when it comes to climate controls. Summers in Canton tend to be quite hot and humid, with average high temperatures reaching the mid-80s. However, high humidity will make it feel even hotter, making it crucial that a home cooling system is put into place.

Winters in Canton are cold and snowy, with average high temperatures barely reaching the freezing point. A heat pump or furnace system is a necessity to keep residents safe during this time. Fortunately, there are a variety of great, energy-efficient options out there that can keep utility costs low, and Canton residents should contact an HVAC professional for guidance.
