About Akron, OH - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Akron, Ohio is the fifth largest city in the state, and it serves as the county seat of Summit County. As of 2010, approximately 199,100 people called this community home, and its population growth dates back as far as the early 1900s when it became one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S. due to industries like fishing tackle, stoneware, and farming equipment. Even today, the Goodyear headquarters is found here, and other top employers in the city include Summa Health System, the Akron General Health System, and the University of Akron.
There are a variety of attractions and areas of interest located in Akron. Art enthusiasts may enjoy visiting the Akron Art Museum, while performance enthusiasts may like to visit the Akron Civic Theater. The Akron Zoo is found just outside of the downtown area, and other area attractions are held at the Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens. Akron is also home to a variety of events throughout the year, including the Bridgestone Invitational at the Firestone Country Club and the National Hamburger Festival.
The Akron region is home to a humid continental climate, and like the rest of the Midwest, it features four distinct seasons. The winter months tend to be cold and dry, although a mix of sleet, snow, and rain is common. Occasionally, heavy snowfall with icing occurs, and freezing temperatures can lead to dangerous conditions. Residents will need to invest in a high quality home heating system to keep themselves and their properties safe.
Extreme weather conditions are also common during the summer months, making it important that residents invest in central air conditioning. These months tend to be hot and humid, and temperatures can easily reach 90 degrees or hotter. An energy efficient air conditioning unit can make a major difference in comfort level when these dangerous weather conditions set in.
